Do you really need free weights to perform an exercise? Russian twist are great for stabilizing the core and working your obliques. There’s 3 key points to make sure you do the exercise correctly: 1- Having a « comfortable » angle. Some will go lower, some won’t. Depending of your flexibility and lower back strength, simply get in the position that will avoid any lower back inconfort. 2- Your arms should be and remains at a 90 degree angle with your torso. (Or directly facing your eyes). This way you’ll make sure that your spine is the rotation axe. 3- Always look in the middle of the weight you’re holding. This will provide the extra shoulder motion when trying to get the not necessary extra amplitude.
